Accounting Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by Professor Wayne Tanna, for students who are declared accounting or business majors. The purpose is to provide financial assistance to deserving students who demonstrate an exceptional academic track record and are committed to giving back to the community through service.
Alaka`ina Foundation Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2016 through the Alaka’ina Foundation. The Alaka’ina Foundation is a non-profit, Native Hawaiian organization with a mission to build and promote leadership and educational initiatives for the youth of Hawaii. Closely aligned with Chaminade's mission, the goal of the Foundation is to develop a new generation of leaders - especially among nā keiki from rural areas - to serve in local communities as well as abroad. The Foundation has preserved its legacy at Chaminade through this endowed scholarship that will benefit future generations of Native Hawaiian students for years to come.
Albert Akana Burns Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2010 by Vaughn Vasconcellos to honor his brother, the late Albert Akana Burns, who attended McKinley High School in Honolulu where he excelled in athletics. He later rose through the Hawaii film industry ranks, working with shows such as Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum P.I., to become a business agent for union film technicians. Vaughn Vasconcellos, a Chaminade’s Board of Governors and Board Advisor to Chaminade’s Hogan Entrepreneurial Program, created this scholarship to honor his brother's legacy as a Native Hawaiian athlete.
Antone J. and Mary C. Lopez Endowed Scholarship
The Lopez family, long-standing members of the Honolulu Catholic community and supporters of the Marianist community, established this scholarship in honor of their parents, Antone J. and Mary C. Lopez.
Brother Bernard J. Ploeger, SM, Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2016 by long time benefactors Mr. Albert and Mrs. Maureen Wong, to fund deserving students pursuing their college degrees at Chaminade University. Mr. and Mrs. Wong created this endowed scholarship in honor of Brother Bernard J. Ploeger who served as president of Chaminade from 2009 to 2017. Recognizing the importance of a college education,they believe higher education should be accessible to all and not limited by the cost to attend.
Bruggeman-Kearsley Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 1993 by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kearsley to honor the positive impact that former chair of the Criminal Justice Department, Dr. James Fagin, had on their son. Each recipient must demonstrate an exceptional academic track record and are committed to giving back to the community through service.
Charles R. Borns Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 1983-1984 by a group of alumni and faculty in memory of the late business department professor, Charles Borns.
Chun-Hoon Family Biology Scholarship
The Chun-Hoon Scholarship is an endowed scholarship established by the late Dr. Harry C.F. Chun-Hoon in honor of his father Mr. Chun-Hoon. Dr. Chun-Hoon was a faculty member in the Biology Department at Chaminade University from 1968-1986, and wanted his estate to be used in the granting of scholarships to students in the Biology Department.
The scholarship recipient must be a U.S. citizen, be enrolled at Chaminade University in a biology or pre-med undergraduate program. The students must have demonstrated leadership skills and have a commitment to community service.

David and Vanessa Hulihee Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established through the Hawaiian Trust Company in June 1988, in honor of David and Vanessa Hulihee. Born in Hilo, Mr. Hulihee lived in Molokai and was very active in community affairs. He worked for Hawaiian Telephone Company, while Vanessa worked as a housemaid. Neither were alumni of Chaminade, however, David was awarded the "Honorary Alumnus” status for all his support of the university. The scholarship recipient must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the State of Hawaii. The student must be accepted for enrollment in an undergraduate program with a GPA of at least 3.25, and be a member of the athletic program while also having demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to community service.
David M. Peters Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established for Native Hawaiian students in honor of David M. Peters, a proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools and Maui High School. In 1943, he became the first person from Maui ever to be appointed to the United States Military Academy West Point. Upon graduation in 1946, he began a distinguished military career during which he earned numerous awards and decorations, including the Silver Star for courageous action in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1976 as a full Colonel after 30 years of service.
Thereafter, he served for 14 years as Executive Assistant to U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye, in charge of the Senator's Honolulu office. Mr. Peters had a passion for serving the community and was a prominent figure in many Hawaiian and civic organizations. For 29 years, he served as a Trustee of the Queen Liliuokalani Trust, including 10 years as Chair. During his tenure, the Trust greatly expanded the number of beneficiaries served, built new facilities in rural Oahu and on neighbor islands, and solidified its strong financial base.

Dr. Feung Lee and Mrs. Mew Sin Lee Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2010, by her daughter, Patricia Lee-Robinson and James Robinson, to honor Dr. and Mrs. Lee. Dr. Lee was a surgeon, received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and practiced in Boston, Massachusetts until his retirement in 1977. Dr. Lee also taught surgery at Harvard Medical School for over 25 years. Mrs. Lee, a Kauai-born girl, earned degrees in home economics and education from Oregon State University and Columbia University. To honor Dr. and Mrs. Feung Lee, the Dr. Feung Lee and Mrs. Mew Sin Lee Endowed Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to deserving students pursuing their degrees in pre-medical studies.
Dr. Mary Lou Morgado Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was generously donated by Dr. Mary Lou Morgado (’64), a Chaminade alumna. This fund supports students pursuing the life of an educator.
Dr. Roderick F. and Ms. Sharon S. McPhee Endowed Scholarship
The purpose of the gift is to establish the Dr. Roderick F. and Ms. Sharon S. McPhee Endowed Scholarship for deserving students. Sharon McPhee has a long-standing relationship with Chaminade, serving as a member of the Board of Governors since 2006. She is an active community member and a familiar presence at Chaminade events, creating many relationships among community partners to the University. She is also a generous donor to The Chaminade Fund as well as other student programs, including Performing Arts and Silverswords Athletics.
Edward and Peggy Eu Endowed Scholarship
The Edward and Peggy Eu Endowed Scholarship at Chaminade was founded to support the university’s most deserving students. Mr. and Mrs. Eu had a longstanding relationship with Chaminade. Mr. Eu served several terms as a Chaminade’s Board of Regent, later as Regent Emeritus, and was a member of the Board of Governors. In 2001, Mr. Eu received Chaminade's highest honor being named a Doctor of Philosophy, honoris causa, in recognition of this outstanding service to Chaminade and the greater community. Both Mr. and Mrs. Eu were active community supporters and were a familiar presence at Chaminade events. They were generous contributors to the Chaminade Fund, as well as to performing arts and many other student programs.
Elaine Sue Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2005 by Ms. Janice K. Sue in memory of her mother, the late Elaine S. Sue. This endowed scholarship was established in support of the Sue family's vision to support deserving students pursue their academic goals at Chaminade University. Recipients of the Elaine E. Sue Trust Memorial Scholarship must agree to conduct a minimum of 20 hours of community service per semester. These hours may be completed through Chaminade’s service learning program.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2013 by Betty Long in honor of her husband, Elia Long, to benefit Native Hawaiian undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. Betty Long, a former member of the Board of Regents (1980-1993), was one of the first female regents.
After the federal enactment of Title IX legislation, she encouraged the athletic director to develop a program for women's sports at Chaminade and served on the hiring committee for the first women's volleyball coach. Also, served twice as chair of a unique fundraising event, Symbols of Celebration, which asked friends and supporters of the university to collect liturgical art from around the world, stage a show, and auction off the artwork.

Faafofoga Steele Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1983 to honor the memory of Faafofoga Steele by her husband Dwayne Steele, a former member of Chaminade’s Board of Regents. The scholarship recipient must have demonstrated leadership skills and have a commitment to community service.
First Insurance Company Scholarship
This scholarship was created by First Insurance Company of Honolulu in 1998 to benefit graduates of Hawaii high schools with a preference toward assisting students pursuing a degree in business. First Insurance established this scholarship to help educate Chaminade students and prepare them for the changing corporate environment taking place in the Pacific region, especially Hawaii.
Florence Misako Lau Endowed Scholarship
Seeking to foster global peace, cultural exchange and international relations, Florence Lau established the Florence Misako Lau Endowed Scholarship to enable students with limited financial resources to participate in Chaminade Study Abroad Programs. She established this scholarship in the hope that students would learn to respect the beliefs, values, and customs of different cultures around the world, and encourage others to create a society of peace and harmony.
Fr. Thomas Hogan SM and Fr. Joseph Kerr SM Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established for deserving students who are fulfilling their higher education goals at Chaminade. The donors have a longstanding interest in Chaminade and its students. Its founder, Mr. Michael Kerr, has served for several years as a member and chair of Chaminade’s Board of Governors and has been a generous donor with annual gifts. His family also has strong ties with the Marianist community. This scholarship is named after his maternal uncle, Fr. Thomas Hogan, S.M., and his paternal uncle, Fr. Joseph Kerr, S.M., both of whom were educators at Marianist schools. Fr. Hogan also once served as the Chaplain, chair of the Theology Department, and a member of the Governing Body at Chaminade.
Fumiko Kanazawa Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2011 by Jan Seymour to honor her aunt Fumiko Kanazawa. Ms. Kanazawa was a high school history teacher in the city of Los Angeles for many years. To honor her memory, the Fumiko Kanazawa Endowed Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to deserving students pursuing their college degree. Jan Seymour (’76), a Chaminade University graduate with a B.A. in International Studies.
Herbert and Phyllis Weaver Endowed Scholarship Fund
This endowed scholarship was established in 2007 to provide financial assistance to deserving students pursuing their academic goals. Phyllis Weaver instituted the endowment in memory of her late husband, Herbert Weaver, who was a professor of psychology for over 30 years.
Honorable Patrick K.S.L. and Mrs. Santa Marie Yim Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by the Honorable Patrick K.S.L. and Mrs. Santa Marie Yim in 2014, as a way to give back to the next generation of Hawaii students. An alumnus of St. Louis School and a former Chaminade Board of Regent member, Patrick, together with his wife Santa Marie, have been personally invested in positively impacting the youth of Hawaii.
Mr. Yim’s experience as a Trustee of the Queen Lili'uokalani Trust, as well as his long judicial career, has made him known as a well-recognized advocate and ally for Hawaii's youth.

This endowed scholarship was created through the generosity of Mrs. Angela Starke-Mainelli and Mrs. Marti Steele. The Howard R. Starke & Dwayne Nakila Steele English Scholarship was created for deserving students majoring in English. The scholarship recipient must be a full time degree seeking student with a GPA of at least 3.25. They must have demonstrated leadership skills, financial need and a commitment to community service.
J. Luis Zabala Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2007 by J. Luis Zabala to support deserving students who are pursuing their academic goals at Chaminade University. Mr. Zabala was a native of San Francisco and president of Zabala Vineyards in California and a member of the Board of Regents. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full time at Chaminade, have a 3.0 GPA, be committed to community service and have financial need.
Joanna Lau Sullivan Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2010 by Joanna Lau Sullivan to benefit full-time undergraduate students who are at risk of non-completion due to financial hardship. The scholarship is designed to enhance Chaminade’s mission in providing access to a college education to all students and focus on helping those students succeed.
Mrs. Sullivan was a long-time supporter of education at Chaminade, where she earned an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Chaminade in December 2008. Her husband Maurice Sullivan, a founding Board of Regent (1966-1978) at Chaminade, was awarded Chaminade's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. The Sullivan family has been extremely supportive of Chaminade and other Hawai'i organizations, for which they were awarded the 2008 Outstanding Family Philanthropists of the Year. The Sullivan Family Library on campus became a reality through generous donations from the Sullivan family and was dedicated in 2008.

John A. Hughes Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1957 with an original donation by Irene Hughes, daughter of John A. Hughes. Hughes was an Irish-born merchant marine officer who aided in the building of Hawaii’s early land-transportations system. The recipient must be an enrolled, full-time student at Chaminade University and a resident of the state of Hawaii. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25, performed community service, display leadership qualities, and demonstrate financial need.
John Chin Young Endowed Scholarship Fund
This endowed scholarship was established by the family and friends to honor John Chin Young, a famous local artist. The scholarships are offered with the intent that the recipients will use the funds to advance their knowledge of the arts and share this knowledge or artistic talent with others. The scholarship is also given to students majoring in education.

John D. Field, Jr. and Susan J. Field Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2014 by John D. Field, Jr. MBA '94 and Susan J. Field to assist deserving students studying toward their college degree. This scholarship benefits undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship, with preference afforded to students who are residents of the State of Hawaii.
John is grateful for the education and the degree he earned at Chaminade University, and both John and Susan want others to have the opportunity to share in the educational experiences that Chaminade provides its students. They believe that the cost of a quality, private university education should not serve as a barrier to a student's ability to pursue the dream of earning a degree.

Judge Barry Rubin Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established to honor former criminal justice professor, Judge Barry Rubin, who was also a long-time family court judge in Hawaii. The scholarship recipient must be a

The Leslie A. Hicks Endowed Scholarship was created in honor of Leslie A. Hicks, a founding member of the Chaminade University Educational Foundation. They must have demonstrated leadership skills and have a commitment to community service.
Lt. General Francis and Jeannine Wiercinski Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2018 by Lt. General Francis and Jeannine Wiercinski. Lt. General Francis was commissioned in 1979 upon his graduation from the United States Military Academy West Point. Retiring from the Army after having commanded at every level during his military career, Francis subsequently spent the next 20 years as a senior manager leading complex organizations worldwide.
Marrying her high school sweetheart, Jeannine has spent her years serving in her two beloved professions: as a Registered Nurse and Army Officer Spouse. Her clinical nursing career has covered individual patient care to administrative management, and her passion is coaching, mentoring, and inspiring future nursing professionals.

Mark and Jennifer Johnson Memorial Endowed Scholarship
In 1999, Leonard and Sheila Johnson established the Mark and Jennifer Johnson Scholarship Fund to honor the memories of their children Mark (‘99) and Jennifer Johnson who tragically lost their lives in the Sacred Falls landslide in May of 1999 on the eve of Mark's graduation from Chaminade.
This scholarship fund will support deserving undergraduate students to help them realize their academic goals. It is one of Mr. and Ms. Johnson's wishes that students regardless of their background be able to pursue their lifelong ambitions and dreams without undue financial hardship for the benefit of the student and the community.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2013 from the estate of and to honor Mary Mau Lecavelier, who attended Chaminade University, by her brother, Francis Mau, also a graduate from the MBA program.

When she eventually returned to Hawaii, she continued in her career path, working in computer programming, tax and bookkeeping services, and real estate. The other major interest in Mary’s life, besides her family, was travel, especially in the Pacific. The scholarship honors her strength in business education and her dedication to serving students in Hawaii and the Pacific Islanders.

This endowed scholarship was established by Ms. Judi Mather, MBA ‘83 for deserving students in the military who are completing the MBA program at Chaminade. She served as active-duty military while completing her MBA at Chaminade. As a proud graduate of the MBA program, she was committed to giving back to both her alma mater and to fellow servicemen and servicewomen who are fulfilling their advanced degree goals at Chaminade.
Patricia To Endowed Scholarship
In 2005-2006, Patricia To (‘63), a proud Chaminade alumna, established an endowed scholarship to support deserving undergraduate students majoring in humanities or education. Mrs. To's vision is that talented students should be able to pursue their academic ambitions without undue financial hardship, so that these students will be able to contribute to the maintenance of high standards of Catholic education in the state.

This endowed scholarship was established in September 2008 by Chaminade University's Board of Regents in honor of Mary Civille ‘Sue’ Wesselkamper, the eighth president of the institution who served from 1995 to 2008. This endowed scholarship was established in 2010 to honor Ruth Reeves-Taylor, by her daughter and son-in-law, Billie "Bunchie” and Lothar Bandermann. Mrs. Taylor obtained a Master’s Degree in
English after her children were grown and then taught English at Chaminade, specializing in fiction and Ernest Hemingway. To honor her memory, the Ruth Reeves-Taylor Memorial Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to deserving students pursuing their degrees in English or Education. Mrs. Bandermann has an MA in vocal performance and teaches music at De Anza College in the Bay Area and conducts several choirs. Dr. Bandermann did astronomy research and taught physics at the University of Hawai'i in Manoa. He is also a life-long organist and composer of sacred music.

Dr. Bandermann did astronomy research and taught physics at the University of Hawai'i in Manoa. He is also a life-long organist and composer of sacred music.
Sandra Lynn Barnum Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established April 2015 in honor of the memory of Sandra Lynn Barnum. Mr. Raymond and Mrs. Judith Griffiths have a long standing relationship with Chaminade and its students. Mrs. Griffiths's mother was an alumna and professor of English at Chaminade University.
St. Francis Xavier Club Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by the St. Francis Xavier Club of Honolulu, an organization of Catholics of primarily Japanese ancestry, to celebrate their 70th anniversary in 1997.
Stuart Petrie Endowed Memorial Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by Dr. Loretta Petrie, former Vice President for Academic Affairs at Chaminade University, in honor of her late husband Stuart Petrie.
Terrence Desmond Loui Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2012 by the family and friends of the late Terrance Desmond Loui. Terrence Desmond Loui (’82), a proud Chaminade graduate with his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, worked as a local area network hotline specialist for the Defense Communications Agency with a top-secret clearance and as a local area network administrator for the State of Hawaii, Department of Health. From his early teens, he was an avid volunteer for many community organizations. Terrence was devoted to his family and remembered his time at Chaminade University with great fondness.
The Laura E. Tavares '83 Memorial Scholarship
Laura E. Tavares graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu in 1983 with her Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education. She met her husband Linus P. Tavares '80, MBA '81 at Chaminade and together they moved to Kurtistown on the Big Island to raise their family and pursue their careers. She was a retired English teacher at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus and formerly at Waiakea High School and Pahoa High School, and librarian at Hilo Intermediate School. Thomas Stephen Dal Ponte Memorial Scholarship
In 2006, the Thomas Stephen Dal Ponte Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Thomas Stephen Dal Ponte '77 who passed away on February 3, 2006, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This endowed scholarship fund helps deserving Chaminade University undergraduate students realize their academic goals. Through this scholarship, students, regardless of their background, can pursue their academic ambitions without undue financial hardship. Chaminade University is honored to preserve the memory of Thomas Stephen Dal Ponte by stewarding this scholarship into perpetuity.
Victoria & Joseph Gomes Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 1998 by Gerard and Betty Joseph in honor of their mother, Victoria Gomes Joseph, an educator who resided on the island of Maui, to fulfill her dream to assist deserving students in the field of education. The Victoria Gomes Joseph Memorial Scholarship was created to honor her memory and provide financial assistance to deserving students pursuing their college degrees at Chaminade.
Vincee Amaral Viso Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2013 by James J. Viso in honor of his late wife, Vincee Amaral Viso. A long-time supporter, James Viso served for many years on the Board of Governors and repeatedly contributed to the university's scholarship program. His youngest son is a Chaminade University alumnus as well. James and Vincee also had close ties with Chaminade's former President Sue Wesselkamper, whom they found very inspiring.
By creating this scholarship, James hopes to commemorate Vincee's life for the benefit of Chaminade's nursing students. Married for 62 years, James and Vincee were dedicated to each other and their large family. They both have been the recipients of excellent care by their health-care professionals, and the creation of this scholarship is executed under the auspices of fomenting a tradition of Chaminade University graduating wholly educated, caring, and compassionate nurses.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2006 by Yvette Pounds. The Willie Pounds Memorial Scholarship provides tuition assistance to current Chaminade student athletes, particularly undergraduate men and women basketball players, who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in both athletic and academic endeavors.
Windsor Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in December 2009 by Chaminade University's Board of Governors member J. Michael Windsor to honor his wife. Mary Windsor, a devoted wife and mother, was an outstanding nurse for 20 years, who trained in England and established the first neurosurgical unit for the Hong Kong government. The scholarship is designed to assist Chaminade students in realizing their goals in the field of nursing.
